It's quite possible that your records burned up in the St Louis fire of 1973.
Check with your local VA office.

Looking for Anyone stationed as NAS Alameda
Posted By: Stacy Hicks
March 12, 2021 05:00 PM
I am looking to connect with anyone stationed at NAS Alameda. I am currently working on a project that addresses the toxic water found on the base. It is important that I find as many people as I can, even if you or your family did not get sick. NAS Alameda is one of the almost 700 bases with toxic water and is an EPA Superfund Site. Illnesses from drinking the water may take years to show up. Mine has taken 30 years. Illnesses may include miscarriage, autoimmune diseases, kidney or liver disease, cancer and heart disease.
I run a Veteran Support and Advocacy group, Loving My Veteran. Once we found about the contaminated water on the military bases we took it in as a project, www.projectyourvoice.org We are working on all the military bases with contaminated water. I have reached out to Erin Brockavich who is behind this project and supporting our endeavor.
Please email me at projectyourvoice.org@gmail.com
I never knew that drinking the water or giving my kids Koop-Aide might kill them.
Thanks,
Stacy

Looking for anyone who knew my Uncle Donald Lee Guthrie who died 6-9-1954 on a base in Alaska. I’ve always thought his branch was Air Force but looking on the internet it doesn’t look like the AF as officially named until after his death. I need to know how he died, what happens. Everyone is dead, his siblings died young and I’m trying to solve the mystery of his death, as my grandparents were never told what happened to him. He died on the base. Good, bad or ugly, I’d like to know. It’s time to be able to put it down in our family records. A search of military records in the archives comes up with nothing. They say his records could have burnt in the fire. I’m not able to get a death certificate either until I have his military information. I’d appreciate anything anyone knows.
