USS Hopewell (DD-681)

USS Hopewell (DD-681) was a Fletcher-class destroyer commissioned by the United States Navy in 1943. She served with distinction in the Pacific Theater during World War II, participating in major operations such as the invasions of the Philippines, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa, where she provided fire support and screened larger vessels from enemy attacks. After the war, Hopewell was decommissioned but later recommissioned for service during the Korean War, where she conducted shore bombardments and patrols. The ship continued her service through the early years of the Vietnam War before being decommissioned in 1970 and ultimately scrapped in 1972.

USS Johnston (DD-821)

USS Johnston (DD-821) was a Gearing-class destroyer commissioned by the United States Navy in 1946. Named in honor of Lieutenant Commander Ernest E. Evans, hero of the Battle off Samar, the ship served extensively during the Cold War era. Johnston participated in several important operations, including patrol and escort duties in the Atlantic, Mediterranean, and Caribbean, as well as deployments to the 6th Fleet. After decades of active service, she was decommissioned in 1973 and later transferred to the Republic of China Navy, where she served as ROCS Chen Yang (DD-916).

USS Jouett (CG-29) was a Belknap-class guided missile cruiser commissioned into the United States Navy in 1966. Named after Rear Admiral James Edward Jouett, the ship served prominently during the Vietnam War, providing naval gunfire support and acting as a radar picket. Throughout the Cold War, Jouett participated in numerous exercises and operations, demonstrating advanced anti-air and anti-submarine warfare capabilities. After nearly three decades of service, she was decommissioned in 1994 and later expended as a target during naval exercises in 2007.

USS Long Beach (CGN-9), commissioned in 1961, was the world’s first nuclear-powered guided missile cruiser and the only ship of her class in the United States Navy. Designed during the Cold War, she featured advanced radar and missile systems, including the Talos and Terrier surface-to-air missiles, making her a formidable air defense platform. Throughout her service, Long Beach participated in key operations such as the Vietnam War, where she provided air defense for carrier task forces, and later supported operations during the Gulf War. After a distinguished career demonstrating the utility of nuclear propulsion in surface warships, she was decommissioned in 1995.
