Patrol Squadron 17 (VP-17), known as the "White Lightnings," was a U.S. Navy maritime patrol squadron established in 1946. Throughout its service, VP-17 operated a variety of aircraft, including the P-2 Neptune and P-3 Orion, conducting anti-submarine warfare, reconnaissance, and surveillance missions. The squadron played a significant role during the Cold War, Vietnam War, and in various Pacific and Indian Ocean operations. VP-17 was based at NAS Barbers Point, Hawaii, until its disestablishment in 1995 as part of post-Cold War force reductions.

Helicopter Combat Support Squadron ONE (HC-1), also known as "Pacific Fleet Angels," was established by the United States Navy on April 1, 1948. It was the Navy’s first helicopter squadron, pioneering the operational use of helicopters for search and rescue (SAR), vertical replenishment (VERTREP), and fleet logistics missions. HC-1 participated in numerous critical operations, including support during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and played a vital role in the recovery of astronauts from space missions. The squadron was disestablished on April 29, 1994, after nearly five decades of distinguished service.
VF-121

VF-121, also known as "The Pacemakers," was a United States Navy fighter squadron established in 1946. Initially flying F6F Hellcats and later transitioning to jet aircraft such as the F9F Panther and F3H Demon, the squadron played an important role in training and operational deployments during the Korean War era. In the late 1950s, VF-121 became the Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) for the F-4 Phantom II on the West Coast, responsible for training aircrews and maintenance personnel for the new aircraft. VF-121 was disestablished in 1971, having significantly contributed to the development and readiness of U.S. Navy fighter aviation.

Patrol Squadron 50 (VP-50), known as the "Blue Dragons," was a U.S. Navy maritime patrol squadron established in June 1944. Initially flying PBM Mariners during World War II, the unit conducted anti-submarine warfare, reconnaissance, and search-and-rescue operations in the Pacific. Over its long service, VP-50 transitioned to newer aircraft, including the P-5 Marlin and eventually the P-3 Orion, adapting to Cold War missions such as surveillance and intelligence-gathering. The squadron was based at NAS Moffett Field, California, and participated in significant operations until its decommissioning in March 1992.
