2:101st Cavalry

The 2nd Squadron, 101st Cavalry Regiment is a unit of the New York Army National Guard with a distinguished lineage dating back to the American Revolution. Originally formed as part of the New York State Militia, the unit has undergone numerous reorganizations and redesignations, serving in various capacities throughout American military history. During World War II, elements of the 101st Cavalry served in the European Theater, participating in major campaigns such as the Rhineland and Central Europe. In recent years, the 2/101st Cavalry has been mobilized for overseas missions, including deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, as well as domestic responses within the United States.

The 101st Airborne Division is a specialized unit of the United States Army that is trained for air assault operations. It was created during World War II and gained fame for its role in the D-Day invasion of Normandy in 1944.
