USS Midway

The USS Midway is a decommissioned aircraft carrier that is now a museum located in San Diego, California. It served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1992, making it one of the longest-serving carriers in history. The Midway played a significant role in various military operations, including the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm. Visitors to the museum can explore the ship's flight deck, bridge, hangar deck, and numerous exhibits showcasing the carrier's history and significance.

Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, located on the southeastern coast of Cuba, has been under continuous U.S. control since 1903, following the Spanish-American War. Initially established to serve as a coaling and naval station, its strategic location allowed the U.S. Navy to project power throughout the Caribbean. Over the decades, Guantanamo Bay has played roles in regional conflicts, Cold War intelligence, and humanitarian operations. Since 2002, it has become globally recognized as the site of a U.S. military detention facility used in the War on Terror.

USS Miller (FF-1091) was a Knox-class frigate of the United States Navy, commissioned in 1973 and named in honor of Doris Miller, the first African American to be awarded the Navy Cross. Initially classified as a destroyer escort (DE-1091), Miller was reclassified as a frigate (FF-1091) in 1975. During her service, she participated in numerous Atlantic and Mediterranean operations, focusing on anti-submarine warfare and escort duties during the Cold War. USS Miller served until 1991, when she was decommissioned and later transferred to Turkey, where she served as TCG Gaziantep (F 490).
