The 2nd Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, known as the "Warriors," traces its lineage back to 1808, making it one of the oldest units in the U.S. Army. The battalion has served with distinction in numerous conflicts, including the Civil War, World Wars I and II, Vietnam, and more recent operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. During the Vietnam War, the unit earned multiple commendations for valor and professionalism in combat. The 1st Division, 16th Infantry Regiment—famously known as part of the U.S. Army’s “Big Red One”—has a distinguished history dating back to its formation in 1917. The regiment fought valiantly in World War I, participating in key battles such as Cantigny, Soissons, and the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. In World War II, the 16th Infantry landed at Omaha Beach on D-Day and continued to fight through Europe, earning numerous honors.
