My name is Ed Solomon. I am 92 years old, live in Southern California, and recently published a book with a title that usually makes people smile: Cooking at 90 When You Hate the Kitchen. At first glance, it may sound like a cookbook. In reality, it is a story about resilience, humor, independence, and proving that it is never too late to begin something new.

I am not a chef. I have never hosted a cooking show, attended culinary school, or claimed to be an expert in the kitchen. In fact, for most of my life, I did everything possible to avoid cooking.

Then life changed. After surviving a life-threatening illness that kept me hospitalized and in nursing facilities for 148 days, I returned home with a renewed appreciation for every day I was given. Rather than slowing down, I decided to challenge myself in ways I never imagined. One of those challenges became this book.

Written with humor, honesty, and a healthy dose of self-deprecation, Cooking at 90 When You Hate the Kitchen shares simple recipes, observations about growing older, and the discovery that even someone who dislikes cooking can find satisfaction in creating something for themselves.

Perhaps most important, I have pledged 100% of my royalties from the book to causes close to my heart: 50% to support our homeless veterans and 50% to TIMOTCA, a nonprofit art organization dedicated to promoting peace through the arts. Over the years I have traveled the world, pursued business ventures, enjoyed a lifelong passion for music and the arts, and now, at 92 years young, found myself becoming an author.
