Staffed by both US Navy personnel and civilian contractors, NAVFAC Brawdy supported NATO maritime defense operations in the North Atlantic. The facility was closed following the end of the Cold War, with its mission and function transferred or decommissioned as part of broader post-Cold War military reductions.
