• Namesake: USS Robison (DDG-12) was named after Rear Admiral Samuel Shelburne Robison, a distinguished U.S. Navy officer who served in both the Spanish–American War and World War I. • Commissioning: The ship was commissioned on December 9, 1961, at the Puget Sound Bridge and Dredging Company in Seattle, Washington. • Class: USS Robison was a Charles F.
