USS PORTLAND (LSD-37) was an Anchorage-class dock landing ship commissioned into the United States Navy on 3 October 1970. Designed to support amphibious operations, she transported and launched landing craft, vehicles, and Marines during key deployments. Throughout her service, PORTLAND participated in numerous exercises, humanitarian missions, and operations, including deployments to the Mediterranean and support during Operation Desert Storm in 1991.
