Benner, she served in the Pacific during the final months of World War II, providing escort and screening duties. During the Korean War, the Benner participated in patrols, shore bombardments, and carrier task force operations. She later saw action off the coast of Vietnam, supporting naval gunfire missions before being decommissioned in 1970.
