Naval Mobile Construction Battalion THREE (NMCB 3), known as the “Better Than Best” battalion, was originally commissioned in 1942 during World War II. The unit distinguished itself in the Pacific Theater, constructing airfields, roads, and bases in support of combat operations. NMCB 3 has since deployed in support of numerous conflicts and operations, including the Korean and Vietnam Wars, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
