3RD FSSG

• The 3rd Force Service Support Group (FSSG) was originally activated on May 2, 1958, as the 3rd Combat Service Group in Okinawa, Japan. • During the Vietnam War, the 3rd FSSG provided logistics support to Marine units in Southeast Asia, including transportation, medical services, and supply. • In 1976, the unit was redesignated as the 3rd FSSG to better reflect its role in supporting Marine Expeditionary Forces around the world. • During Operation Desert Storm in 1991, the 3rd FSSG provided vital logistical support to Marine forces in the Persian Gulf, including transportation, maintenance, and supply operations. • In 2003, the 3rd FSSG deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, providing logistics support to Marine units during combat operations. • The unit has also supported humanitarian relief efforts around the world, including providing aid to victims of natural disasters in Haiti, Indonesia, and the Philippines. • The 3rd FSSG is headquartered at Camp Kinser in Okinawa, Japan, and includes several subordinate units located throughout the Pacific region. • The unit's motto is "Logistics, the Ultimate Weapon," highlighting the critical role that logistics plays in supporting Marine combat operations. • The 3rd FSSG has a long and proud history of supporting Marine forces in peacetime and during combat operations, dating back to its origins in the 1950s. • The unit continues to play a vital role in supporting Marine Expeditionary Forces around the world, ensuring that Marines are fully equipped and ready to deploy at a moment's notice.
