3rd Battalion 24th Marines

The 3rd Battalion, 24th Marines (3/24) is a United States Marine Corps Reserve infantry battalion headquartered in Bridgeton, Missouri. Activated during World War II, the battalion participated in the pivotal Battle of Iwo Jima in 1945, earning distinguished honors for its actions. After deactivation post-war, 3/24 was reactivated as part of the Marine Corps Reserve, supporting training and mobilization missions. In the 21st century, it has deployed in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, continuing its legacy of service both at home and abroad.
