About 1ST FSSG

The 1st Force Service Support Group (1st FSSG) is a United States Marine Corps combat service support unit. It provides logistical and combat service support to Marine Expeditionary Forces in a variety of operational environments. The unit is capable of providing food, fuel, ammunition, medical, maintenance, transportation, and other essential support to Marines in the field. The 1st FSSG is trained and equipped to deploy rapidly and provide critical support to Marines engaged in combat operations.

• The 1st Force Service Support Group (1st FSSG) was originally activated on 7 August 1950 in Japan during the Korean War. • During the Vietnam War, the 1st FSSG was responsible for providing a wide range of logistical support to Marine Corps units in the region. • In 1990, the 1st FSSG deployed to Saudi Arabia in support of Operation Desert Shield and later took part in Operation Desert Storm. • The 1st FSSG played a critical role in disaster relief efforts following the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, providing humanitarian aid to affected areas. • During the Iraq War, the 1st FSSG provided logistical support to Marine units during the invasion of Iraq in 2003. • The 1st FSSG has been involved in various peacekeeping missions around the world, including in Haiti and Somalia. • In 2008, the 1st FSSG was redesignated as the 1st Marine Logistics Group (1st MLG) to better reflect its mission and capabilities. • Throughout its history, the 1st FSSG has earned numerous unit awards and commendations for its outstanding service and support to Marine Corps operations. • The 1st FSSG is known for its rapid deployment capabilities, enabling it to quickly respond to crises and military operations around the globe. • In addition to its combat support role, the 1st FSSG also plays a key role in disaster response and humanitarian assistance missions, showcasing the versatility and dedication of its personnel.
