• Strategic Location: USCG Station Humboldt Bay is located in Samoa, California, at the entrance to Humboldt Bay, which is one of the few safe harbors along the rugged Northern California coastline. • Established in 1856: The original Humboldt Bay Lighthouse was established in 1856, and Coast Guard presence in the area dates back to the U.S. Life-Saving Service, a predecessor of the Coast Guard. • Heavy Surf Operations: The station is renowned for its challenging surf and dangerous bar conditions.
