Located in northeastern North Carolina, the unit has played a crucial role in maritime search and rescue, law enforcement, and disaster response missions along the Atlantic coast and beyond. During World War II, the station supported anti-submarine patrols and convoy escort missions. Over the decades, it has evolved into a major hub for Coast Guard aviation, training aircrews and supporting a fleet of fixed-wing and rotary aircraft for both domestic and international operations.
