**Station Castle Hill** was established during World War II as a key coastal defense installation on the eastern seaboard. Initially manned by elements of the U.S. Army Coast Artillery Corps, the unit’s primary mission was to monitor and protect against enemy naval threats. Throughout the war, Station Castle Hill coordinated radar surveillance and harbor defense batteries, contributing significantly to the security of nearby naval facilities. After the war, the site transitioned to support communications and training functions before deactivation in the early 1950s.
