• Founded in 1952: The U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School (USAJFKSWCS) was originally established in 1952 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, as the Psychological Warfare Center and School. • Renamed to Honor JFK: In 1969, the school was renamed after President John F. Kennedy, who was a strong advocate for Special Forces and famously authorized the Green Beret as their official headgear. • Cradle of Army Special Operations: USAJFKSWCS is known as the “cradle of Army Special Operations,” overseeing the training and education for Special Forces, Civil Affairs, and Psychological Operations soldiers. • Home of the “Q-Course”: The rigorous Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC or “Q-Course”) is conducted here, producing highly skilled and versatile Green Berets. • Training for Global Missions: Soldiers trained at USAJFKSWCS have been instrumental in missions worldwide, including counterterrorism, unconventional warfare, and humanitarian assistance. • Special Operations Language School: The institute includes one of the U.S. Army’s largest language schools, teaching over a dozen critical languages to enhance global operations. • Psychological Operations Legacy: The Center’s roots in psychological warfare reflect its ongoing mission to train PSYOP soldiers in influencing and shaping foreign perceptions. • First Female Green Beret: In July 2020, the first female soldier graduated from the Army’s Special Forces Q-Course at USAJFKSWCS, marking a historic milestone. • “Robin Sage” Exercise: The legendary “Robin Sage” is the final field training exercise for Special Forces students, simulating guerrilla warfare in the fictional country of Pineland across North Carolina. • Continuous Innovation: USAJFKSWCS constantly updates its curriculum to address emerging threats such as cyber warfare, hybrid conflict, and regional instability, ensuring Special Operations Forces remain at the forefront.
