Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division (HHC 1-18 IN, 1ID), traces its lineage back to the unit’s original constitution in 1812. The 18th Infantry Regiment has seen distinguished service in major conflicts, including the Civil War, both World Wars, Vietnam, Operation Desert Storm, and the Global War on Terrorism. As part of the legendary “Big Red One,” the battalion has played critical roles in key operations such as the D-Day landings at Normandy and the liberation of Iraq. Today, HHC 1-18 IN continues to lead and support its battalion in maintaining combat readiness and supporting operations worldwide.
