Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC), 16th Aviation Battalion was constituted on 3 February 1966 in the Regular Army and activated on 19 February 1966 at Fort Benning, Georgia. The battalion was deployed to Vietnam, where it provided command and control, logistical, and administrative support for subordinate aviation companies engaged in combat and support operations.
