A Company, 7th Engineer Battalion served as a vital combat engineering unit within the 1st and later the 5th Marine Divisions during the Vietnam War, particularly in the Quang Tri province. Their primary missions included constructing and maintaining defensive positions, clearing mines and obstacles, and supporting infantry operations with mobility and survivability tasks. The unit played a significant role during major campaigns such as Operation Dewey Canyon and the defense of the Quang Tri Combat Base, often working under enemy fire.
