The 902nd Military Intelligence (MI) Group was activated in 1944 during World War II, initially serving in the European Theater to provide counterintelligence support. Throughout the Cold War, the unit played a crucial role in detecting and neutralizing espionage threats against U.S. Army interests. Based at Fort Meade, Maryland, the 902nd MI Group specialized in counterintelligence investigations, operations, and analysis to protect Army personnel, facilities, and information. The group continued its mission into the 21st century, supporting global Army operations until its inactivation in 2022 as part of a broader Army intelligence restructuring.
