The 8th Combat Aviation Battalion was a distinguished aviation unit of the United States Army, activated in 1966. It played a vital role during the Vietnam War, providing air assault, reconnaissance, and logistical support primarily within the Central Highlands region. The battalion’s helicopters, including UH-1 Hueys and AH-1 Cobras, supported ground operations, troop insertions, and medical evacuations under challenging combat conditions. After years of dedicated service, the 8th Combat Aviation Battalion was eventually inactivated, but its contributions remain a significant part of U.S. Army aviation history.
