The 878th Engineer Battalion is a unit of the Georgia Army National Guard with a history dating back to its federal recognition in 1959. Headquartered in Augusta, Georgia, the battalion has provided essential combat engineering support, including construction, route clearance, and infrastructure repair, for both state and federal missions. The 878th has deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and other overseas operations, earning commendations for its service. In addition to combat deployments, the battalion has played a vital role in disaster response and community assistance throughout Georgia.
