The 867th Field Artillery (FA) Battalion was activated during World War II as part of the U.S. Army’s rapid expansion to meet global conflict demands. Equipped primarily with 155mm howitzers, the unit provided crucial fire support for infantry and armored divisions in the European Theater. The battalion participated in several key campaigns, including the Rhineland and Central Europe operations, delivering effective and sustained artillery barrages against enemy positions. After the war, the 867th FA Battalion was inactivated as part of the broader postwar drawdown of U.S. military forces.
