The 6th Battalion, 60th Artillery (6th/60th Artillery) was an artillery unit of the United States Army, activated during the Vietnam War era. Initially equipped with self-propelled 105mm howitzers, the battalion provided direct and general support fire for infantry and armored units, notably operating with the 9th Infantry Division in the Mekong Delta from 1967 to 1970. The battalion played a critical role in numerous operations, including counterinsurgency and riverine assaults, delivering accurate and timely fire support under challenging conditions. Following the drawdown of U.S. forces in Vietnam, the 6th/60th Artillery was inactivated, its lineage continuing as part of the U.S. Army’s broader artillery heritage.
