68th Assault Helicopter Batallion

The 68th Assault Helicopter Battalion was activated during the Vietnam War as part of the United States Army’s rapid expansion of air mobility forces. Tasked with providing aerial assault, troop transport, and logistical support, the battalion played a critical role in numerous operations, utilizing UH-1 "Huey" helicopters to insert and extract infantry units in challenging terrain. The 68th earned a reputation for its bravery under fire, often flying into hostile zones to evacuate wounded soldiers and deliver vital supplies.
