The 6th Battalion, 62nd Field Artillery (6/62nd FA) traces its origins to the 62nd Field Artillery Regiment, which was constituted during World War I as part of the U.S. Army. Reactivated and reorganized several times throughout the 20th century, the 6/62nd FA provided crucial artillery support in both European and Pacific Theaters during World War II. During the Cold War, the battalion served with distinction in Germany as part of the U.S. Army’s forward-deployed forces. Although inactivated and reflagged in later years, the legacy of the 6/62nd FA lives on through its contributions to major U.S. Army operations and its tradition of excellence in artillery fire support.
