The 6570th Aerospace Medical Research Laboratories was a United States Air Force unit established in the late 1950s at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Its primary mission was to conduct pioneering research in aerospace medicine, focusing on human performance, physiology, and safety in high-altitude and space environments. The laboratory played a significant role in supporting the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs by advancing understanding of the effects of acceleration, weightlessness, and other stressors on astronauts. The unit’s groundbreaking work contributed to the development of life support systems, protective equipment, and medical protocols that have become standard in both military and civilian aerospace operations.
