The 62nd Expeditionary Signal Battalion was constituted on 3 May 1941 in the Regular Army as the 62nd Signal Battalion and activated at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. During World War II, the battalion provided critical communications support throughout the European Theater, notably participating in campaigns in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. Over the decades, the unit has deployed in support of major operations, including Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, delivering tactical communications and networking capabilities. Today, the 62nd Expeditionary Signal Battalion remains a vital element of the U.S. Army’s signal corps, ensuring reliable and secure communications for commanders and units across the globe.
