The 62nd Engineer Battalion (Land Clearing), known as the "62nd Engineers," served with distinction in the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1971. Their primary mission was land clearing—removing dense jungle vegetation to deny enemy forces concealment and create space for bases, airfields, and supply routes. Using armored bulldozers and heavy engineering equipment, the battalion operated in hazardous conditions, often under enemy fire and threat of mines. Their efforts played a crucial role in supporting infantry operations, improving mobility, and enhancing security for U.S. and allied forces throughout Vietnam.
