The 59th Evacuation Hospital, commonly referred to as the 59th Evac, was a distinguished United States Army medical unit activated during World War II. Organized in 1942, the unit deployed to the European Theater, providing critical medical care during major campaigns, including Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. The 59th Evac was renowned for its rapid deployment and ability to set up fully functional hospitals close to the front lines, saving countless lives. After WWII, the unit was inactivated but later reactivated for service during the Vietnam War, where it continued its legacy of exemplary battlefield medical support.
