The 593rd ASG, originally constituted as the 593rd Quartermaster Service Battalion in 1944, has a distinguished history of logistical support within the U.S. Army. The unit provided critical supply and transportation functions during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Over the decades, it was redesignated several times, becoming the 593rd Area Support Group (ASG) and later the 593rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command.
