The 548th General Dispensary was a U.S. Army medical unit established to provide medical care and support to military personnel. Activated during the post-World War II era, the unit was stationed in Japan, notably in Tokyo, to serve American forces during the occupation and reconstruction period. The dispensary played a vital role in delivering outpatient medical services, preventive medicine, and support for dependents and civilian employees. The 548th General Dispensary contributed significantly to maintaining troop health and readiness before being inactivated as U.S. military presence in Japan was reduced.
