The 522nd Quartermaster Company was a unit of the United States Army during World War II, notable for its composition of Japanese American soldiers, many of whom were originally part of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. Deployed to Europe, the 522nd was primarily responsible for logistical support, supply distribution, and quartermaster duties for frontline units. In 1945, the 522nd became historically significant when its soldiers helped liberate prisoners from Dachau concentration camp subcamps during the Allied advance into Germany. Their service highlighted both the crucial logistical role of quartermaster units and the patriotism of Japanese American troops during a time of widespread discrimination.
