The 51st Signal Battalion (Airborne) is a distinguished communications unit in the United States Army with a lineage dating back to World War II. Originally constituted in 1942, the battalion provided critical signal support during campaigns in Europe, including Normandy and the Rhineland. Reactivated and redesigned over the decades, the 51st Signal Battalion has served in various capacities, most notably as part of the XVIII Airborne Corps, ensuring rapid, secure communications for airborne and expeditionary operations. The unit continues its legacy today, supporting global deployments and maintaining readiness as the Army’s only airborne signal battalion.
