The 50th Armored Division was a unit of the United States Army National Guard, officially established in 1946 in New Jersey. Originally organized as an infantry division, it was reorganized as an armored division in 1946 as part of the National Guard's post-World War II restructuring. The division provided combat-ready forces during the Cold War, participating in numerous training exercises and serving as a strategic reserve. In 1993, as part of a nationwide reorganization of the National Guard, the 50th Armored Division was inactivated, with its lineage and units reassigned to other commands.
