The 502nd Military Intelligence Battalion was first constituted on 13 October 1950 and activated on 20 October 1950 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Throughout its history, the battalion has provided critical intelligence support to U.S. Army operations, including during the Cold War in Europe as part of V Corps, and later in various deployments supporting Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom, and Enduring Freedom. The unit specializes in all-source intelligence, counterintelligence, and electronic warfare, enhancing operational effectiveness for supported commands. The 502nd MI Battalion continues to serve as a vital component of the Army’s intelligence community, adapting to emerging threats and technologies.
