The 4th Battalion, 517th Artillery was a unit of the United States Army that served as a key artillery support element. Activated during the Cold War era, the battalion was equipped with field artillery designed to provide fire support for maneuver units. Throughout its service, the 4th Battalion participated in various training exercises and readiness operations, contributing to the overall deterrence posture of U.S. forces in Europe and elsewhere. Although the battalion was eventually deactivated as part of post-Cold War restructuring, its legacy of professionalism and readiness remains part of the history of U.S. Army artillery units.
