The 43rd Engineer Battalion was first constituted on 1 October 1933 in the Regular Army and activated on 14 July 1941 at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. During World War II, the battalion provided essential combat engineering support in the Pacific Theater, including operations in New Guinea, Leyte, and Luzon, earning multiple campaign streamers. After the war, the unit underwent several activations and inactivations, serving in various capacities during the Cold War era.
