The 3rd Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment (3-28 IN) boasts a storied legacy within the United States Army, tracing its roots to the 28th Infantry Regiment, originally constituted in 1901. During the Cold War, the battalion was stationed in the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) as part of the 8th Infantry Division, serving as a key component of NATO’s forward defense against potential Warsaw Pact aggression.
