The 3/175th GUN Battalion was established during the latter years of World War II as part of the expanding artillery forces of the U.S. Army. Specializing in heavy gun artillery, the battalion provided crucial fire support during the campaigns in Western Europe, notably participating in the push across the Rhine in 1945. After the war, the unit continued to serve as a key component of the Army’s field artillery, adapting to new technologies and doctrines during the Cold War. The battalion was eventually reorganized in the late 20th century as part of broader Army restructuring efforts.
