The 3rd Battalion, 16th Field Artillery Regiment (3-16 FA) was originally constituted in 1916 as part of the 16th Field Artillery and has a distinguished history of service in the U.S. Army. The battalion served with distinction in World War I, World War II, and has deployed in support of Operation Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom. Known as the "Rolling Thunder," 3-16 FA has provided critical artillery support to maneuver units, earning multiple campaign streamers and unit commendations throughout its history. Today, the battalion is assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Cavazos, Texas, continuing its tradition of excellence and readiness.
