The 2nd/14th Armoured Cavalry, stationed in Bad Kissingen, Germany, was a key reconnaissance unit during the Cold War era, primarily composed of American and German personnel. Its primary mission was border surveillance along the inner German border, monitoring Warsaw Pact movements and providing early warning of potential incursions. The unit regularly conducted patrols, intelligence gathering, and joint exercises with NATO allies to ensure rapid response capabilities. After the reunification of Germany and the collapse of the Soviet Union, the unit’s role diminished, leading to its eventual deactivation in the early 1990s.
