The 2nd Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment (2/11 ACR), with its Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC) Scout Contact Team, has a proud legacy within the U.S. Army. Historically, 2/11 ACR played a pivotal role during the Cold War, patrolling the East-West German border as part of the U.S. Army’s forward-deployed forces in Europe. The HHC Scout Contact Team served as the “eyes and ears” of the squadron, conducting reconnaissance, security, and early warning missions to detect and report enemy movements. In more recent years, the 2/11 ACR has deployed to support training operations at the National Training Center, Fort Irwin, where its scout teams continue to provide realistic opposition force and reconnaissance capabilities for units preparing for deployment.
