The 2nd Battalion, 76th Field Artillery Regiment (2/76th FA) traces its origins to the 76th Field Artillery, which was constituted in the National Army in 1917 and served in France during World War I. Reactivated and reorganized multiple times throughout the 20th century, 2/76th FA provided crucial artillery support in both World War II and the Cold War era, adapting to evolving artillery technology and tactics. During the Vietnam War, elements of the 76th FA supported combat operations, demonstrating flexibility in both direct and general support roles. In recent decades, the battalion has continued to serve as a key component of U.S. Army artillery forces, maintaining readiness to deliver fire support in a variety of operational environments.
