The 249th General Hospital was a United States Army medical unit activated during World War II. Established in 1943, the unit was deployed to the European Theater, where it provided critical medical support during major operations, including the Normandy Campaign and the push across France and Germany. The hospital treated thousands of wounded Allied soldiers, earning commendations for its efficiency and dedication under challenging battlefield conditions. After the war, the 249th General Hospital was deactivated as part of the postwar drawdown of military forces.
