The 236th Military Police (MP) Detachment was a specialized unit assigned to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Tasked with providing law enforcement, security, and force protection, the unit played a critical role in safeguarding one of the nation’s premier military medical facilities. Throughout its tenure, the 236th MP Detachment supported the medical center’s mission by ensuring the safety of patients, staff, and visitors, including high-profile dignitaries and wounded service members. The detachment exemplified professionalism and adaptability until its inactivation following the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) process, which led to the closure of Walter Reed Army Medical Center in 2011.
