The 231st Engineer Battalion is a unit of the Alabama Army National Guard with a distinguished history of service. Originally constituted in 1946 as the 231st Engineer Combat Battalion, it has supported military operations with expertise in construction, mobility, and combat engineering. Over the decades, the battalion has participated in both domestic missions, such as disaster relief operations, and overseas deployments in support of U.S. military objectives. The 231st Engineer Battalion is recognized for its professionalism and adaptability, embodying the engineer motto, "Essayons" ("Let us try").
